What Treatment Costs for Clients from Botswana

BWP 100 000 per month, or BWP 250 000 for the recommended three-month programme. Services and outings are included, with no hidden add-ons.

Families deserve a clear number before they make a decision this serious. For clients from Botswana, residential treatment at Hillhouse Clinics costs BWP 100 000 per month. The recommended three-month programme is BWP 250 000 in total, which is meaningfully less than paying month by month.

Unlike many clinics, there is no separate charge for services and outings: outings, day trips and the laundry service are already included in the fee. Treatment is self-funded. We do not take a deposit before an assessment has taken place, and we will tell you honestly if we believe a shorter or different form of care would serve the person better.

    • BWP 100 000 for one month of residential treatment
    • BWP 250 000 for the recommended three-month programme
    • Services and outings โ€” day trips and laundry โ€” included, no extra charge
    • Accommodation, meals and 24-hour care included
    • Medical detox included where clinically indicated
    • Individual therapy, group therapy and psychiatric review included
    • Family programme and twelve months of aftercare included

    What the fee covers

The monthly fee covers accommodation in a small residence, all meals, nursing care around the clock, medically supervised detox where it is clinically indicated, psychiatric assessment and review, daily individual psychotherapy, group and trauma therapy, the family programme and twelve months of aftercare and alumni support after discharge.

It also covers services and outings: the day trips, nature walks and supervised time out of the house that are part of rebuilding a normal routine, as well as the laundry service during the stay. Many clinics bill these separately; we do not.

Not included: flights and travel, any medication dispensed outside the programme, specialist hospital care or investigations elsewhere, and personal expenses.

Why three months is the recommendation

One month makes a person safe, clear and hopeful. Three months is where the underlying work is done and the new routine is lived long enough to survive contact with ordinary life again.

That is why the three-month programme is priced at BWP 250 000 rather than three separate monthly fees of BWP 100 000. If a longer stay is clinically advisable, further months continue at the monthly rate.

    How payment works

Payment is made by the client or their family, usually in Pula or South African rand, before or on admission. Where a family needs to split the payment across the treatment period, we discuss that privately and agree the arrangement in writing beforehand.

We prefer to have the financial conversation by phone, once we understand the clinical situation, so the plan reflects both what the person needs and what the family can realistically sustain.
